Have you seen Pinterest?

Assalaamu alaikum sisters

I wanted to share this really great resource for finding resources:

I use it to search for ideas, save ideas and post ideas. By typing your search term into the Pinterest search you get taken to a page chock full of other peoples pictures (which they have pinned) relating to that topic!

OK reading that makes me wonder if I should just use Pinterest’s description of what they do:

What is Pinterest?

Pinterest is a Virtual Pinboard.

Pinterest lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize their favorite recipes.

Best of all, you can browse pinboards created by other people. Browsing pinboards is a fun way to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests. To get started, request an invite.

Our Mission

Our goal is to connect everyone in the world through the ‘things’ they find interesting. We think that a favorite book, toy, or recipe can reveal a common link between two people. With millions of new pins added every week, Pinterest is connecting people all over the world based on shared tastes and interests.

I have added a link to my side bar and if you click it it will take you to my pinboards which you can follow to see things which I have found, loved and re pinned.

Just this afternoon I was looking for ideas to use with my stash of popsicle sticks, I had some ideas but wanted to see what math related posts was out there. I found some great ideas alhamdulillah. I have searched for:

Kindergarden math

Word family games

Phonetic blends activities etc!

It really is very helpful when thinking up creative way to make teaching fun.

May you have a beneficial “pinning” experience insha Allah 🙂

Have you played Boggle?

I bough this Boggle game off Gumtree a couple of months ago and we love it!

I can use it with both the girls, they can play it with me or on their own which is great considering they are 3 and 5 years.

There are two ways of playing, with Imaan she will keep the flap up leaving the word covered, she will look at the picture and choose the letters and build the word.

With Zahra we will leave the word uncovered and she will search for the correct letters and build the word and sound it out.

She is growing in confidence though and pretty soon we she will also want the word covered like her sister (Insha Allah).

There are harder words as well.

I think they really benefit from it, Masha Allah.

Disclaimer regarding links I share

While I do provide links to other sites I do not endorse their beliefs. While I was browsing through  the printables and resources provided by the site 1+1+1=1, I was going to pay for access to the ad-free section to their site, when I read this:

“Why an Ad-Free Section?

For you and for me!  I know many people will want access to the printable units for this program before I release them for free on my blog.  This is a way for you to get them earlier than the public, AND also support our mission work!  We are faith-supported missionaries and use this extra income to keep our support needs to a minimum.  You also get the joy of a clear ad-free page to download your files from at anytime! I am always thinking of new ideas also, and will only be including any new add-ons to the program in the ad-free section!”- 1+1+1=1
Alhamdulillah I didn’t buy it!
I wanted to give you a heads up too. I do not support or endorse any missionary work a’oothubillah! It’s a minefield out there!

Fantastic finds

I found this blog post and just had to share it as is. I have been sitting all afternoon just going through the list and saving, preparing and printing materials.

“Whether you use Montessori education or a more traditional form of teaching or homeschooling, free printables are invaluable for saving time and creating attractive, professional-looking activities.”

Insha Allah you will find benefit in it.
